After a visit with golf course architect Keith Foster, he suggested that we shift the tee at 14 South in order to create a greater risk/reward for someone that is attempting to “cut the corner”. His recommendation was to move the tee 12 feet to the right, reduce the width of the tee from 26 feet to 24 feet, and shift the aiming point so that it aligns 10 feet to the left of the bunker closest to the fairway. The entire tee would not need to be moved, basically the left half of the tee had to be flipped to the right side. This shift of the tee would also require moving the cart path further to the right. Below are pictures demonstrating what took place during the project.
- Here is picture of the tee before any work had been started.
- First, the rough and tee sod had to be stripped and set aside to be reused once the tee was complete.
- This shows how the tee was flipped from one side to the other. The sand was removed on the left in order to be reused. On the right the new part of the tee has been excavated and will be filled with the mix that was removed from the left side.
- All of the grade work is complete and ready for sod.
- All of the sod has been put into place and the cart path has been paved.
