We have recently received questions regarding the two small holes spaced closely together that you can notice in the greens and the purple shaft-like objects that create them.  These objects are soil moisture meters which give us a measurement of the volume of water in the soil that is available for the grass plants to use.  The meters allow us to be more efficient and effective with our watering practices on the greens, more quickly locating areas that are dry and in need of water.  We are also able to more accurately determine how much water is necessary in a given area to get the plants through the day.  So to answer your questions regarding why there are two small holes located in various areas of the greens, it is just us poking around to ensure the greens have adequate water in the soil below.
