Junior Squash Program

Ages 5 & 6
The players will learn the basic rules, grips, swings, techniques, tactics and movement of the game of Squash. Juniors will work on athletic capacities such as eye-hand coordination, athletic movement, speed and balance. Additional focus will be on fun, fitness and friendship with creative and competitive games to form good squash foundation skills.

Begin the concept of strategy with building shot combinations. The concepts of “let calling” and refereeing will be introduced. Sportsmanship and learning to win and lose gracefully.

Tuesday and Thursday: 5:15 pm – 6:00 pm

Players will continue to hone technical skills as well as tactics. Juniors will learn new footwork patterns, movement and endurance in a more intense setting. Players will learn to maintain the “T” as well as have offensive and defensive speed. They will learn to begin to think one or two shots ahead within a rally. Introduction of deception. Additional instruction on refereeing and match play. Some goal setting and mental training. Learn how to sign up and play in a tournament, as well as learn how to read a draw. Some videotaping for teaching and to enhance personal squash awareness.

Class Size Policy: To ensure each player receives the best quality of instruction we will be limiting class sizes to six players per court. Classes will also need at least four players for the program to go forward.

Make Up Class Policy: Kids can make up two classes in the following session. If your child is not able to come, please let us know so that players on the waiting list or who’d like to drop in are able to join the class that day.

Drop-In Policy: Kids are able to drop-in into any appropriate level class that is not full (6 kids). The drop-in rate is slightly higher per class than registering for the entire session.
