Now with very cold temperatures at night and below freezing temperatures during the day we have solid ice on the skating rink. Tuesday we began processes of scraping ice clumps and then running a “resurfacer” across the ice. This tool puts hot water onto a towel, which is then pulled across the surface adding a little water and melting any shavings or bumps. This is typically repeated until the surface is smooth.

The ice rink opened for skating last evening at 5 pm and will be open in the future dependent on weather. Although the temperatures are cold enough in general we do experience some melting during sunny days along the walls, especially on the side with the Arborvitae shrub row. Orange cones will be placed on areas that the ice may be too thin to skate. Updates of ice conditions will be posted on the club’s twitter account.
